Get BlackBerry Enterprise Server Express for Free

We get the constant request from Customers to add BlackBerry Enterprise Server to their Windows Exchange VPS or Dedicated Servers for their Enterprise e-mail accounts.  When we go to price the BES Server Software for their dedicated Server Environments the price tag would give them shell shock.

Now RIM is offering Blackberry Enterprise Server Express for FREE!  BlackBerry Enterprise Server adds the BlackBerry features and advanced messaging capabilities with any internet-enabled BlackBerry phone.

So if you are running Microsoft Exchange or Windows Small Business Server and looking at cost justifying the BES server for your sales team, well here is your free option.  After speaking with RIM we have found that it is limited to 75 Users in a Shared Environment, 200+ users in a Dedicated Server Environment.  There is no BlackBerry Mobile Voice System and area also limited to 40 IT Policies….Small tradeoff for Free Licensing.

Personal E-mail Setup Instructions for Verizon BlackBerry

If you want to get your Personal RackWire.com Hosted e-mail on your Wireless Blackberry Device  there are a few simple steps to get you started (with Screenshots).  With RackWire.com IMAP e-mail you do not require a BES server.  The Setup is Quick and Eazy, as shown below. 

Step 1: Go to Verizon’s BlackBerry Email Setup Page.

Step 2: Click Create New Account, then I Agree.  You will then be asked for your RIM BlackBerry Device PIN and Device ESN/MEID.  Enter you information and Click “Continue”

Tip: Turn the BlackBerry device off and remove the battery. Look for the sticker on the BlackBerry device with the PIN information where the battery is usually located.

Step 3: Once Logged in, under the Add An Existing Email Account Click “Set Up Account”

Step 4: Enter your Custom E-mail address in the form of User@YourDomain.com and your e-mail Password.  Then Click Next.

Step 5: Success!  You might have to wait up to 15 Minutes before you can send and Recieve e-mail though your new account on your BlackBerry Device.
